Cream Cheese Frosting

A wonderfully, sweet, simple and fluffy Cream Cheese Frosting.

Cream Cheese frosting is a very popular and delicious frosting, It is my favorite frosting. It goes great with so many cakes, cupcakes, muffins, quick breads, cinnamon rolls and desserts. It is mostly known for it’s pairing with Red Velvet or Carrot Cake. You could also add so many flavorings and spices to this frosting to make a different concoction. I hope you enjoy this wonderfully simple cream cheese frosting and have fun by adding flavors to it for your own creation.

Butter Roux Frosting

A Butter Roux Frosting made with butter, milk, sugar and flour.

Ingredients:
1 cup whole milk
3 Tbsp all purpose flour
pinch of salt
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Whisk flour into milk and place over medium heat in a small sauce pan.
  2. Cook mixture until thickened; remove from heat and add salt. Set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar until fluffy; then add vanilla.
  4. When milk mixture is slightly cooled; add 1 Tbsp at a time to the creamed butter mixture while the mixer is running on medium speed.
  5. You should have a fluffy, light and buttery frosting when completed.

This is a delicious buttery frosting that is traditionally used as a frosting for Red Velvet.
